One of the biggest benefits of the cloud is data accessibility, and if you can’t access your data, then what’s the point of hosting it in the cloud? Your provider should be able to promise your business a certain level of uptime—time that your systems should be available. Ideally, your provider can boast numbers as high as 99.99% and have contingencies in place to ensure these high numbers.
## Cloud Security Issues Emerge from Your Side of the Deal
While the provider might manage the security of your cloud systems, most of the problems you’ll encounter come from your side of the arrangement. Here are some of the ways your business might accidentally contribute to the cloud security problem:
- Cloud resources being accessed by unsecured devices.
- Cloud resources being accessible with insecure passwords.
- Files being shared inappropriately or with people who shouldn’t access them
- Your users storing data on unapproved services or platforms, and the associated data sprawl.
- Users accidentally deleting important data.
As you can see, there’s no shortage of ways your business could goof up the security of your cloud platform. This is why you need to take action to train your team and ensure they know best practices as they pertain to your cloud systems.
