The best defense against ransomware is a solid offense. Back up your data regularly and store it in a secure location that isn't connected to your main network. If a hacker encrypts your files, you can restore them from the backup without paying the ransom.
## Keep Software Updated
Hackers often exploit vulnerabilities in outdated software. Enable automatic updates for your operating systems, applications, and security software. This is a simple step that closes many common security gaps.
## Employee Training
Your team is your first line of defense. Train everyone to recognize phishing emails, report suspicious activity, and understand the importance of cybersecurity protocols. A single click from one employee can put the entire company at risk.
